5 Tips to Conserve Gas and Save Money

With gas prices soaring in the last couple of months it is no wonder many of us shudder as we see our fuel tank near empty. Here are 5 tips from AAA to help you conserve gas:
  1. Avoid making quick stops and starts. It has been reported that you can lower your fuel economy by 33% by driving aggressively.
  2. As hard as it sounds, drive the speed limit.Your cars fuel economy is at its peak around 55 mph. That being said, every 5 mph driven over 60 is equivalent to paying an extra $0.24 per gallon.
  3. Tires should be fully inflatedHaving your tires inflated properly can increase fuel efficiency by 3%.
  4.  Avoid putting luggage on your roof. The vehicle becomes less aerodynamic creating extra drag and decreasing fuel economy.
  5. Having your vehicle up-to-date on maintenance repairs will help you achieve maximum fuel economy. Also, do not ignore vehicle-warning indicators. These problems can be a major cause of poor fuel economy.
